ALCO Insurance Brokers Pte Ltd (ALCO) is a Professional Insurance Broking firm comprising a dedicated team of Risk Managers and Consultants licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The company was established in 1989 as an insurance broking firm specializing in servicing the booming building construction industry at that time. Over the years, the company has grown steadily and diversified into other various industries’ insurance requirements. We strived to satisfy our clients’ and business partners’ needs with tailored solutions and services.
With the development of the Maritime sector as encouraged by various government initiatives, ALCO ventured into the marine insurance market. It was made possible when AL Marine Holdings (BVI) Limited (“AL Marine”) bought over and became the majority shareholder of ALCO Insurance Brokers Pte Ltd in November 2012. AL Marine is the holding company of ALCO Insurance Brokers Pte Ltd and Andrew Liu & Co. Ltd.
Andrew Liu & Co. Ltd was established in 1988 as an insurance broking firm specializing in Marine Hull, Protection & Indemnity insurance and Freight Demurrage & Defense insurance, and they are one of the few marine insurance consultants in China assisting ship owners with their insurance and claim requirements. The emphasis and expertise of Andrew Liu & Co. Ltd is handling claims, in particular large and difficult claims when there is no certainty that the claim falls under the policy coverage or when insurers have grounds to decline the claim.
With Andrew Liu & Co. Ltd as our sister company, working hand-in-hand, we can provide legal advice on commercial disputes such as charter parties and encourage our clients to seek our advice before the matter turns out to be a dispute or claim. In the event that the dispute requires arbitration and/or jurisdictions, our approach is to treat the clients’ claims as our own and achieve the best cost-effective solution to such disputes.
